The building itself feels scary and run down and the apartment door felt not secure. I only found one outlet to charge my phone and it did not work well. Lighting was a problem because of outlet situation. Bathroom light consistently flickered. It was clean though for an old building so for the price it was fine.

Positive: For the price you really can't go wrong. You are in the middle of Philly, close to everything and with great bus connections should you use them. Having somewhere where you can cook for yourself fairly cheaply is very useful as it's not always economical to eat out every day. I appreciated the coziness of the space after the hustle and bustle of the city. The place was clean and tidy on my arrival and the appliances all worked well too. The bed was comfortable and I slept with no problems, the window faced the rear of the property so you didn't get the noise you might from the front. Negative: The only usable sockets were at the other side of the room, away from the lamps and the desk (unless you unplug the TV) and serve more as decoration. So you might have to rearrange furniture if you intend on working from the desk. There were also no washing up materials for the dishes so you have to purchase liquid and sponges. Some of the neighbors smoked. Alot. Come 10pm the smoke would waft through the apartments so if you don't like the smell of weed then it's not great. Although there are shared laundry facilities too, some may hog the machine, I had to take my clothes to a laundrette and pick them up after a day out - which is probably better. There is no elevator and the stairs can be quite narrow so take care as this is on the third floor. The toilet seems to run constantly, but it doesn't cause any issues really. The water from the cold tap came out as warm as from the hot tap, as such I didn't trust it for drinking and bought bottled water.

Practical and functional. Positive: Great location. Great space. Negative: Would have been helpful to know there was no elevator. Internet happened to be out in the building that day.

Positive: Loved how close the stores and restaurants and parks were...and very close to the underground trail 🫶🏾 Negative: the light flickering in the bathroom at times got annoying when getting ready to go out, and I wish there were cleaning supplies (multi purpose cleaner)
